Welcome to Crickhowell Optometrists

We are an independent opticians, providing NHS and private sight examinations. Our practice specialises in all types of contact lenses and we have a wide selection of designer and budget frames.

Our state-of-the-art scanning technology supports early detection and monitoring of glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and many other conditions. We are also an accredited practice for WGOS Examinations for Urgent Eye Problems and WGOS Low Vision Assessments.

Tuesday: 9.30am - 1.30pm
Wednesday: 10.00am - 1.00pm, 1.30pm - 3.00pm
Thursday: 10.00am - 1.00pm, 1.30pm - 3.00pm Friday: Closed
Saturday: Appointment Only (see below dates open)
Sunday: Closed

Saturday Opening - 19th & 26th July, 16th & 30th August ( 9.30am - 1.30pm)


To book an eye examination, please call or email us for our available time slots. A fee of £25 will be taken at the time of booking. This is non-refundable if a patient fails to attend or cancels without reasonable notice.

Contact us by calling our practice on (01873) 811887 or by email. If calling outside of our opening hours, please leave us a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Our messages are monitored regularly.

Outside of our opening hours, during an optical emergency please contact an another Optometry Practice, in the first instance.

Our Location

Crickhowell Optometrists is located on the high street of the beautiful Georgian town of Crickhowell which was awarded ‘The Best British High Street in the UK’ prize in 2018. Crickhowell Optometrists is a Grade 2 listed building and has preserved its historic footprint by keeping the original ‘James Isaac’ shop sign and display.
